Why Did Your State Senator Scott Talley Vote to Eliminate the State Budget Transparency Law?

Do you think it is a good idea to funnel $25 million in taxpayer dollars to an out-of-state corporation?

Your state Senator Scott Talley sure does..

Buried deep in the state budget, new details have come to light about our money being shipped to E & J Gallo Winery – a multi-billion dollar, California-based wine company that wants to build a new factory in Chester County.

In addition to $16 million in cash, our politicians also gave away:

  • Up to $1 million in additional cash from the State Ports Authority – a taxpayer-owned entity
  • $8.3 million for “environmental mitigation”
  • Employee training and recruiting at state technical colleges worth over $1.5 million
  • Sales tax exemption for all factory construction costs
  • Unspecified amount of cash from Duke Energy
  • Reduced property taxes through a Fee In Lieu of Tax (FILOT) agreement

And here’s the kicker: thanks to the way our politicians set this “deal” up with the California company, they could hire 20% fewer people than they promised at their factory and still receive all taxpayer-funded benefits.

We pay.  Politicians, lobbyists and corporate execs get rich.

How did the politicians get away with this?

Because legislators write the state budget in secret.

They spend our money behind closed doors.

And they horse-trade pet projects with other politicians in the Statehouse.

Who should you hold accountable for this corruption?

Your state Senator Scott Talley.

In fact, this year your state Senator Scott Talley voted for a pro-corruption bill (H.3605) that repealed the long-standing state budget transparency law.

Repealing the transparency law leads to more corruption and politicians getting rich on our backs.

Your state Senator Scott Talley needs to hear from you today.

Call and/or text them and demand an answer to this question:
