Why Did Your State Senator Shane Martin Vote to Eliminate the State Budget Transparency Law?

In the year 1526, an explorer named Luca Vasquez de Allyon set sail from Spain with hopes to start a colony in the New World.

All six of Vasquez’s ships sank off the Georgia coast before making landfall.

Why am I telling you this?

Because your state Senator Shane Martin voted to funnel hundreds of thousands of your tax dollars to “explore” Vasquez’s ship wreck.

In my opinion, if politicians want to throw on wet suits and look for a 500-year-old sunken boat, they should do it on their own dime.

But, thanks to Shane Martin, we are all on the hook for this ridiculous pet project.

We have no idea how the money will be spent.  We don’t know who will benefit from this cash.  And there is no way to report corruption if it is misspent.

How did they get away with this?

Because they write the state budget in secret.

They spend our money behind closed doors.

And they horse-trade pet projects with other politicians in the Statehouse.

In fact, your state Senator Shane Martin voted for a pro-corruption bill (H.3605) that repealed the long-standing state budget transparency law.

That is unacceptable.

Your state Senator Shane Martin needs to hear from you right now.

Call and/or text them and demand an answer to this question:

Why did you vote for the pro-corruption bill H.3605?  Why did you vote to repeal the state budget transparency law?

Demand your state Senator Shane Martin stop using the secret budget process to steal our money for pet projects.
